The USDA defines a small farm by income as having less than $350,000 in annual gross cash farm income. At ZEF, we prioritize services to small BIPOC farms and operations (Black, Indigenous, people of color), women,  and LGBTQ operations. Because our goal is helping underrepresented farmers and improving food safety and food security, we are flexible with this definition as needed.
